A joint celebration of Sports Day by the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Justice, the Qatar Foundation for Social Action, and the National Service Academy
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, the Ministry of Justice, the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and the centers under its umbrella, and the National Service Academy celebrated National Sports Day with joint activities organized at the headquarters of the National Service Academy (Muqdam Camp).
This was in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Masoud bin Muhammad Al-Amiri, Minister of Justice, His Excellency the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Pilot Salem bin Hamad Al-Nabit, representing the Ministry of Defence, His Excellency Major General Saeed bin Hamad Al-Nuaimi, the Head of the National Service Academy, the representative of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Dehaimi, Director General of Charitable Organization, and Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Thani, Executive Vice President, representing the Qatar Foundation for Social Work. There was also wide participation of the employees of the organizations participating in the celebration, including (Shafallah Center, Al-Noor Center, Ihsan Center, Wifaq Center, Dreama Center, Daam Behavioural Center, Aman Center, and Nama Center) affiliated with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work.
This joint event between these ministries and institutions included different sports activities aimed at embodying Amiri goals Resolution No. (80) of 2011. It stated that Tuesday in the second week of February each year will be a sports day for the state.
This came within the framework of keenness to exchange experiences and successful experiences to enhance healthy sports skills and physical fitness exercises, and in a manner that considers the conditions stipulated in the decision to organize activities for the participating employees. It is also accompanied by activities for children to install a culture of sports among young people and establish goals related to spreading awareness of the importance of exercising as a daily healthy behavior among different age groups in society.
The events witnessed the establishment of a healthy corner to measure weight and provide health and nutritional advice to the participants in the event, which were provided by specialists in the field of nutritional health. Wide-ranging sports competitions were also organized, including walking, football, table tennis, athletics (hurdles, throwing, jump), archery (bow and crossbow), billiards, bowling, baby foot, ice hockey, and archery. Electronic and electronic interactive games inside the gym in Muqdam camp, various golf stations, various quizzes of various sizes and shapes, and swimming.
Other games have also been organized for women, children, people with special needs, and the elderly, such as basketball for children, self-defense games, boccia, and bocce games, the game of shooting the bell ball for the blind towards the sound target, a game of moving small figures with the hand handle, and shooting the soccer ball towards The goal with obstacles, the game of arranging (X) and (O) signs, the game of skipping sponge barriers, and the game of aiming the sticky ball towards the goal.
The audience was impressed by the Sports competitions that were organized and contributed to stimulating the participants' sports activity. This event witnessed the provision of healthy snacks to raise awareness of the importance of linking healthy food culture with physical activity for sustainable health.
Furthermore, the event witnessed a wide presence from the various affiliates of the parties participating in the celebration, as an embodiment of the wise vision of building the homeland with its citizens of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the country, may Allah bless him. His excellency aims to implement the national development plans on a balanced basis, as the sport is one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. It is a unique vision that reflects the interest of the wise leadership in building the Qatari citizens and taking care of their health and developing them intellectually, mentally, and healthily. The vision aims to establish an integrated sports structure to serve the community and enhance the country's position globally. It was also crowned by the impressive success of the state's organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The Sports Day was chosen in cooperation between the Ministry of Social Development and Family, the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Service Academy at the headquarters of the National Service Academy. This is because it has an integrated sports structure that targets all age groups of employees, their families, and various groups of society, including the elderly and people with special needs. Moreover, special games have been allocated for the elderly, in addition to awareness lectures and seminars to urge the elderly on the importance of physical activity and that it is an important part of their lives, as they practice it regularly.
This reflects the objectives of the State's Sports Day since the sports sector is one of the components of the social pillar of the national development strategy. It also plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life and the well-being of all citizens by providing the basis for an active lifestyle and sports development.
